I'm Karlie - the hands and heart behind Flood City Stitch.
This business was born from a love of art, creativity, and community that I have.
I have been crocheting since I was a kid, and eventually picked up knitting, too. I never seemed to get away from making items, so I finally decided to turn my talent into a small business - making and selling handmade items in Johnstown, PA. I hope to be able to offer you some unique home, gift, and wearable fiber items that are meaningful, purposeful, and FUN!
Thank you for being here and appreciating the time and love that goes into handmade items. Thank you for believing in me, and for helping me to see I can inspire this kind of skill all over the country and give our future generations something special.
A special tribute to my neighbor who lived beside me growing up, Ms. Agnes.
I'd sit on her front porch with her and watch her crochet. I thought it was so cool! She collected plastic grocery bags from friends and family and she'd crochet them into coasters and rugs. I was inspired and watched her, eventually picking it up and grew my skills further on my own. Her kindness to me still is something I carry daily, and in ways has led me to having this skill and business now! I am so thankful for creative women in my life who have been an inspiration to me. Rest in peace, Aggy.
